USCIS Expands Premium Processing Services in Appropriations Bill 8337
The USCIS announced recently it will allow the rapid processing of certain immigration forms and applications filed with the USCIS.
Expanded premium processing for immigration benefits are a part of bill H.R. 8337. This is the federal government appropriations bill to fund the government that passed the House and Senate at the end of September 2020. The bill was signed into law by President Trump on October 1, 2020; and announced by the White House.
Good News – and Some Bad News
The good news is that expanded categories of forms at USCIS will be eligible for premium (faster) processing.
Employers and individuals will have more opportunities to pay U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for faster service. And premium processing will be made available for new immigration categories. USCIS will soon announce the categories included in the expansion of premium processing.
The bad news: fee increases for the expanded premium processing will be substantial in some cases. Details on the increases will be available from USCIS soon.
